Introduction

I've recently reverse engineered the serial protocol used by certain LED scrolling signs, with purported model numbers SLC16H-IR or M500N-7X80RG2, sometimes being sold as an "industrial grade" sign. The distinguishing feature is that it has a serial port (with an RJ-11 jack like an American telephone landline.)
